COTR welcomes new Vice President

Move supports strategic plan’s focus on student experience

Student experience is the first of three “peaks” in College of the Rockies (COTR) new strategic plan Forward and Upward. Supporting this emphasis on students was a leadership reorganization and hiring of a Vice President, Student Success.

College president Paul Vogt is pleased to welcome Brian Muscat to the role. Muscat brings over 25 years of experience in student affairs leadership positions in Ontario. As Dean of Students at Georgian College for the last 10 years, he was responsible for and provided leadership to a variety of student success services, many of which will be part of his portfolio at the college.

“The experience our students have while studying at the college is very important to all of us,” said Vogt. “Brian’s experience in student service roles will be extremely beneficial as we continue toward our vision of providing the best small college experience in Canada.”

Muscat officially stepped into his role on October 1 and has found his first couple of weeks at the college to be very welcoming and exciting.

“I am thrilled for this opportunity to work with a great team of people who are dedicated to student success and I look forward to helping my team and the broader college community create the best student experience,” Muscat said.

With an extensive portfolio, Muscat has been taking the time to meet with and get to know the people in the departments he will be overseeing with plans to work with his team to help create the best small college experience in Canada.
