Cranbrook Legion Supports Kimberley Pipe Band
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 24 Cranbrook has enjoyed a longstanding and very positive relationship with the Kimberley Pipe Band.
“Seemingly forever the pipe band has come to significant Legion events including Remembrance Day,” said Legion president Comrade Rob Martin. “The band’s participation in our events really makes the difference in the quality of the occasion and experience for those attending. We are so appreciative.”
The Legion joined in the celebration of the band’s 90th anniversary in mid July which was marked with a hugely successful sold out tattoo featuring pipe bands from across British Columbia, Alberta and Washington along with various other performers and groups.
The celebratory tattoo opening was led by a colour party formed of Legion members and members of the RCMP. The colour party consisted of RCMP members Sgt. Chris Newel, Cpl. Rob Robertson and Cst. Kerri Robertson and from the Royal Canadian Legion, Mike Landry, Mike Putnam, Bob Muir, Don Stanley, Cynthia Stuart, Don Marion, Vern Anderson, Heidi Radcliffe, Lorne Spencer.
The Legion annually supports the Kimberley Pipe Band with a donation to their expenses and equipment. “We are very happy to support the band as a sincere appreciation for their inclusion in our events and the difference they make in the community,” said Martin.
