Cranbrook Public Library has gone to the birds
The Cranbrook Public Library is currently offering a Birding Backpack thanks to a generous donation from BC Nature. This type of donation is a perfect fit for the Library’s mission, as well as an incredible opportunity for the community.
“Birding can be a source of family bonding, connecting to nature, and intellectual stimulation,” said Mike Selby, the Library’s deputy director. “But it can be pricey, which may exclude a large portion of our patrons. This backpack gives patrons access to equipment they might not otherwise afford.” It can also serve as an introduction to those library users who are simply “bird curious.”
The donation also fits well with the library’s “library of things,” which also offers a bat backpack.
The Birding Backpack features high-quality binoculars; identification books; instructional and informative pamphlets; bird checklists; adjustable lens and cleaners; and a waterproof backpack. There is also a smaller drawstring bag for those who want to walk with a lighter load.
The Birding Backpack is free to borrow, all one needs is a Cranbrook Public Library card (which is free as well.) Your next outdoor adventure is waiting.
