Cranbrook RCMP looking for volunteers

Is a safe community important to you?  The revitalization of the Cranbrook RCMP volunteer program is underway and we are looking for volunteers interested in contributing to community safety.

Cranbrook RCMP recognizes the valuable contributions of volunteers in the delivery of community programs and services. The special talent, skills and abilities that volunteers bring to the table are integral to the success of our community policing and crime prevention programs.

Why volunteer?

  • Learn about crime prevention programs;
  • Explore career options and get an inside look at policing;
  • Meet new people and make a difference.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 19 years of age;
  • Canadian Citizen (or permanent resident for a minimum of five years);
  • B.C. Drivers License (optional);
  • Be reliable and have integrity;
  • Volunteer a minimum of four hours a month for one year;
  • Attend all training sessions;
  • Pass a suitability interview;
  • Successfully pass a security background check.

“Volunteers can expect to participate in a number of crime reduction initiatives, such as community patrols, speed watch and more,” said Melody Munro, Community Engagement Coordinator. “The RCMP has high standards for their volunteers and want ensure volunteers will receive the training and guidance they need to perform their duties in a safe manner.”

Cranbrook RCMP will be accepting volunteer applications until March 31.

Cranbrook RCMP will have a table at this year’s East Kootenay Career and Job Fair at the College of the Rockies on March 5   from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and will be available to answer questions about volunteer and career opportunities.
