Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) June 11 to 6 a.m., June 18.
Police handled 163 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
Six impaired driving: (alcohol).
Three collisions in the city: Including a car versus motorized wheelchair with minor injury; a three-vehicle collision, which was minor in nature; and a single vehicle ran over a cure, causing the air bag to deploy; minor injury resulted.
One collisions outside the city: A deer strike on Highway 95A; the deer didn’t make it.
14 driving complaints: Six in the city and eight from the highway/ rural.
One hit and run: A parked vehicle was struck.
Four assaults: Three were domestic assaults and one was a bar fight between multiple persons.
12 Mental Health Act related calls: including one assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
15 thefts.
Five shoplifting.
Three thefts from auto: Including a cell phone; vaping equipment; license plate stolen…vehicles were left unlocked.
Four thefts other: A purse taken from recycle depot; alleged theft of cell phone…likely lost; theft of tablet at grocery store; and theft of rings from residence.
Three thefts bicycle.
Two break and enters to businesses: An attempt in the industrial area to a business and one successful break and enter to another but unknown what was taken at the time.
One break and enter to residence: A known suspect entered a residence to threaten occupants over historical event, matter is pending.
Two break and enters other: Several train cars broken into at museum; a shed broken into and two bicycles stolen.
One damage to property: Damage to a local restaurant,; a suspect was arrested and is facing multiple charges.
Two drug seizures: marijuana.
13 false alarms and false 911 calls.
Sam Steele weekend was fairly good and most people were well behaved.
