Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) June 18 to 6 a.m., June 25.
Police handled 185 calls for service throughout this week.
Among the calls police handled…
Five impaired driving: alcohol.
Two collisions in the city: A car versus a cyclist (no injury and minimal damage); and two vehicles (minor injury and property damage).
Two collisions outside the city: One collision was a rear ender in Moyie, where a driver was charged for following too closely (minor injury and extensive damage to vehicles); and another involved a deer strike out in Jaffray area (minimal damage to vehicle).
13 driving complaints: Eight in the city and four highway/ rural.
One hit and run: A parked vehicle struck but no damage.
Six assaults: Two domestic assaults, with a male was charged in one of the incidents; a mutual fight between parties known to each other; pushing match between customers at a local convenience store; one bar fight with minor injury; and a nurse was assaulted by a female who was arrested and charged.
10 Mental Health Act related calls: with one apprehension and three assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
15 thefts.
Five shoplifting.
Seven theft from auto: Thefts or attempt thefts from various locations including a computer stolen over two weeks ago from an unlocked vehicle; unlocked vehicle rummaged through nothing taken; purse and groceries taken when passenger window smashed out; complaint of male trying vehicle doors, male not located and nothing else reported from the area; tent and tools taken from a vehicle when suspect smashed window; old iPod and watch stolen from unlocked vehicle; decal stolen off a license plate.
Three thefts other: Jewellery taken from residence; cart stolen from the mall/ backpack thought to be stolen but was later returned to the owner.
One break and enter to business: An attempt as alarm went off. One male was arrested and apprehended under the Mental Health Act.
Two break and enter to residence: One occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on June 19 in the same area and a male youth was tracked by the police dog and arrested by Cpl. Sullivan and Cranbrook General Duty officers. Youth facing multiple charges and is a repeat offender.
Two damage to property: including damage to vehicle (smashed out window) and damage to a TV by an ex boyfriend.
17 false alarms and false 911 calls.
