Cranbrook RCMP Report

The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) July 30 to 6 a.m., August 6.

Police handled 206 calls for service throughout this week.

Among the calls police handled…

One impaired driving: (drug).

Two collisions in the city: One was a single vehicle accident involving a motorcycle, driver error, minor injury; the other was a parking lot collision with minor damage.

One collision outside the city: A single vehicle went off road and struck a tree; minor injury.

10 driving complaints: Four in the city and six outside the city.

Six assaults: Including domestic assault times five; confrontation between parties known to each other at local establishment, no charges; assault between room mates, no charge; confrontation between parties known to each other.

Eight Mental Health Act related calls: One assist East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

12 thefts.

One shoplifting: Two males and a female apprehended. See full story

One theft of auto: A stolen vehicle from Sparwood was recovered in Cranbrook city area.

Four thefts from auto: A vehicle was broken into in remote rural area where the owner had a wallet and passport stolen; vehicle rummaged through but nothing stolen; male looking inside vehicle but owner chased off the male suspect; loose change stolen from vehicle likely left unlocked; GPS, IPOD and Insurance documents stolen out of unlocked vehicle.

Four thefts other: A sway bar and ball mount stolen from vehicle; eight burgundy Trojan brand six-volt cycle batteries stolen from outfitter camp, value approximately $3,000; wallet, vehicle keys and clothing stolen from locker at Western Financial Place; tip Box stolen from local business that is still under investigation.

One theft bicycle: A mountain bike and baby chariot stolen from in front of a residence, bike is an Iron Horse and white/blue in colour and the baby chariot is a Schwinn baby bike stroller and bright blue in colour.

One break and enter to residence: B&E to a residence in rural area; a 65” TV stolen.

One break and enter other: B&E to a shed in Moyie; unknown when it may have occurred, bar fridge and lawn chairs stolen from unlocked shed.

Two damage to property: a vehicle damaged and a house egged.

Three drug seizures: One small seizure of cannabis; one seizure of suspected meth; and one large seizure of various drugs and two persons charged. See full story.
