Cranbrook remembers
More than 1,000 Cranbrook and area residents attended the Remembrance Day service and ceremony at the Rotary Park Cenotaph Nov. 11.
While veterans of the First World War are now all gone and Second World War and Korean Conflict veterans become fewer, the march, led by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 24, featured more ‘younger’ veterans, some of the 40,000 Canadian Forces personnel who served in Afghanistan.
The solemn and respectful gathering was held on a rare November day – snowless and warmer than usual.
The following is a brief look at Remembrance Day in Cranbrook.
