The City of Cranbrook management and CUPE Local 2090 members have reached a four-year collective agreement. CUPE 2090 held a ratification vote on the agreement on December 19, 2017, and city council ratified the agreement yesterday, Monday, January 8.

During the negotiation both parties worked collaboratively, negotiating mutually beneficial terms to ensure quality services to our residents and businesses. The agreement in many aspects improves employee safety, wellness and benefits, while re-establishing policies for sustainable operation.

The agreement runs until February 28, 2021 and is retroactive from March 1, 2017. The settlement includes annual increase of wages from March 1, 2017 until February 28, 2021 at two per cent, two per cent 2.2% and 2.3%.

“I would like to thank CUPE and city management staff for the professional way these negotiations were undertaken,” said Mayor Lee Pratt. “Reaching an agreement of this length will make sure we continue to have stable, quality services for all of our customers, which continues to be a priority for us.”

Nearly 150 CUPE 2090 inside and outside workers are dedicated to providing many public services including: road maintenance, garbage collection, water and wastewater operations, parks and recreation services, bylaw services, planning services, engineering services, RCMP support, and administrative services at City Hall and our other municipal facilities.
