East Kootenay Community Credit Union (EKC) was quick to respond to the need for bike racks in the City of Cranbrook.

Mindy Atti, Branch Manager at EKC, commended the efforts of the City of Cranbrook and Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club to provide numerous locations for cyclists to secure their bikes. EKC supports healthy growth – and bike racks are one step towards making the City of Cranbrook a more desirable city to live and be active in.

Bike racks are one of the many steps needed to encourage more people to be able to commute or ride for enjoyment. The Rails-to-Trails supports the mantra, ‘build it and they will come.’ Cities and small towns alike have all got behind supporting what is needed to create safe, comfortable and interesting bike routes. Trails, both paved and unpaved, and inner city bike lanes that range from painted green to being built between the parking and side walk, have increased people’s desire to ride.

Atti encourages other businesses and individuals to contribute $500 to make the City of Cranbrook and Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary bike rack project a huge success.
