Hot tub, sauna and steam closed at Aquatic Centre

Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation we are following the recommendation from the Lifesaving Society BC & Yukon Branch to close our hot tub, sauna and steam room at Western Financial Place’s Aquatic Centre.

According to the CDC website “There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs.” However, there is the potential for airborne transmission and in these hot areas the recommended distance of one to two metres between users is not practical and highly unlikely. We appreciate your understanding as we take this precaution to ensure the wellbeing of our staff and patrons.

At this time the rest of the Aquatic Centre will remain open and all programming will continue as scheduled. We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates to changes in service as they arise.

To help ensure public safety please follow the following:

  • Stay home if you or a member of your family is sick.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently with soap and warm water, use alcohol-based disposable hand wipes or hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Cough and sneeze into your elbow, not your hands, and if using a tissue, throw it away immediately.
  • Keep your distance (one to two metres) from others wherever possible, specifically those who are coughing or sneezing.

Additional cleaning protocols have been implemented throughout Western Financial Place and other City facilities to help stop the spread of COVID-19.
