ICE and Royals complete trade
The Kootenay ICE announced Dec. 22 it has acquired the rights to 2002-born forward Carter Loney and a 2019 seventh round draft pick from the Victoria Royals. In return, the Royals receive a 2019 sixth round draft pick and a conditional fourth round draft pick in 2022.
The Royals selected Loney in the 10th round of the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.
This season, Loney, from Winnipeg, Manitoba, has seven goals and 16 assists for 23 points in 20 games with RHA Prep of the CSSHL. Loney has also played in six games with the Steinbach Pistons of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League, collecting one goal and four points.
The next home game for the ICE is the ICE Clothing Drive Night on Friday, December 29 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
