ICE Pink the Rink Jan. 27 versus Brandon
The Kootenay ICE is staging another anti-bullying night at Western Financial Place.
During the Saturday, January 27 Western Hockey League game against the Brandon Wheat Kings, the ICE and Western Financial Group are hosting Pink the Rink â Anti-Bullying Night.
Invitations have been sent to all elementary schools in the East Kootenay, the ICE report, adding they have set a goal to achieve a sell out to bring awareness to anti-bullying.
The ICE, its fans and corporate partners will unite together to take a stand against bullying.
Event details
- Western Financial Group will be selling pink pucks at the game (one for $2 or three for $5). This will be followed by a pink puck toss during the second intermission.
- The closest puck to the centre dot will receive the Western Financial Group Luxury Box Suite at the next ICE game along with a $100 gift card for food and drinks.
- All fans are encouraged to wear pink to support anti-bullying
- The Kootenay ICE will be wearing special pink anti-bullying jerseys with all jerseys going up for auction in support of the ICE Education Fund.

In related news, the ICE reduced the crowd in the crease by trading goaltender Bailey Brkin to the Spokane Chiefs in exchange for a 2019 eighth round draft pick.
In 23 games with the ICE this season, Brkin posted a 4.51 goals against average, a .874 save percentage and a record of 7-12-2-0.
Prior to that move the ICE acquired 1998-born goaltender Matt Berlin from the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.
