ICE, RCMP team up for Pink the Rink
On Friday, February 17, Cranbrook RCMP is proud to support the Kootenay ICE and Western Financial Group in their Anti Bullying Initiative, ‘Pink the Rink.’
Each year the Kootenay ICE have participated in this campaign where fans at the game are encouraged to wear pink to support anti-bullying in the community. The ICE players tape their sticks and lace up their skates in bright pink in support of those in our community who have been or are being bullied.
Kootenay ICE players have been going into several schools in School District No. 5 this year to promote healthy living, reading and self-esteem among youths. Continuing on with their community involvement, the ICE will once again spearhead Pink the Rink.
Western Financial Group’s sponsorship of this game night, with the Saskatoon Blades in town, involves a Pink Puck Toss during the second intermission of the game. All proceeds from the sale of the pink pucks are donated back to the participating schools for anti-bullying initiatives.
“The Cranbrook RCMP is proud to be a part of any anti-bullying initiative. Pink the Rink is a place where all schools, parents, service clubs, and fans can come together in support of those being bullied,” said Cst. Katie Forgeron.
