Interior Health has extended a drug alert first issued on Dec. 22 covering the Cranbrook area.

The drug alert is about a substance sold as ‘dope, down or fentanyl’ containing high amounts of fentanyl, benzo and xylazine

There is a very high risk of fatal overdose.

Current harm reduction advice for drugs containing xylazine is to use as little as possible with caution.
