Junior girls sweep Foothills Composite
MBSS Sports Update
JUNIOR GIRLS
Last weekend the Mount Baker Secondary School (MBSS) junior girls basketball team travelled to Okotoks, Alberta to play three games at Foothills Composite. The girls defeated Foothills 59-23, Holy Trinity 84-11, and Chestermere 90-24.
The team was led in scoring by Kiara Ker with 16.3 points per game (ppg), followed by Summer Blackmore with 11.3 ppg, and Taliya Stepan with 10.6 ppg.
Kali Ewaskow led all rebounders with 20 boards.
All players on the team hit the scoreboard, as the team reached season highs in scoring.
Next action for the Junior Girls is this weekend at the Jaffray Tournament. The girls play at 3 p.m. on Friday versus Selkirk Secondary School.
SENIOR GIRLS
The Senior Girls traveled to Lethbridge and won one game and fell short in two others. However, only seven girls could make the trip. They really represented well and played their hearts out.
SENIOR BOYS
The Senior Boys played in Creston and came second to Creston who threw up a shot from close to half and scored with three seconds left in the game. It was a very dramatic finish for the home team. Unfortunately, the Baker boys were missing six players due to sickness and other commitments. Dawson Atwood and Spencer Gartside were co-MVPs for the tournament.
COMING UP
This weekend, the Junior Girls are in Jaffray, Junior Boys are in Creston, Senior Girls are in Calgary, and Senior Boys are in Kimberley.
