Kootenay Bike Swap returns to North Star Bicycle

JCI Kootenay, a local non-profit organization run by young professionals, is hosting the second annual Kootenay Bike Swap on May 6 at the Northstar Bicycle Co in Cranbrook.

The event is a one-day opportunity for bike enthusiasts to buy and sell quality, bicycles at affordable prices, with all proceeds going to support JCI Kootenay’s community-based programs.

“We are thrilled to be hosting the Kootenay Bike Swap again this year,” said Wayne Armstrong, last year’s chair of the organizing committee. “We know that many people in our community have bikes that they no longer use or want, and we want to provide a safe, hassle-free way for them to sell those bikes.”

The Kootenay Bike Swap welcomes consignments of bikes in good condition. The cost to sell a bike is a $15 seller’s fee and 15% commission, with bikes expected to be for sale between $100 and $6,000.

The event offers a great opportunity to purchase a quality bike at an affordable price, with volunteers available to help size and assist attendees in finding the right ride.

Join JCI Kootenay and Northstar Bicycle company for a fun day with bicycle enthusiasts. Besides bike sales, the Kootenay Bike Swap will also host the crew from The Firehall Kitchen & Tap as they bring their tap trailer to serve a selection of beer from 12 to 4 p.m.

Additionally, for those patrons who get hungry, there will be a BBQ to serve hotdogs and sausages. The proceeds of all BBQ sales will go to support Wildhorse Bicycle Club in their continued efforts to maintain Cranbrook’s amazing trail network.

“JCI Kootenay is dedicated to making a positive impact in our community, and we’re excited to use the Kootenay Bike Swap as a means to do so,” added Armstrong. “We invite everyone to come out, participate in this event, and support our efforts to create positive change in Cranbrook.”

The Kootenay Bike Swap will take place on May 6, with bike drop-off from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and the sale from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Northstar Bicycle Co, 1900 Cranbrook St. N.

All bikes will be inspected for basic safety and function. All major forms of payment will be accepted.
