Luke Philp signs entry level deal with Flames

The Calgary Flames announced today that it has signed former Kootenay ICE sniper Luke Philp to a two-year entry-level contract.

Philp, a resident of Canmore, Alta., just finished his third season with the University of Alberta Golden Bears.

The 23-year-old had 21 goals and 24 assists for 45 points in 24 games with the Golden Bears this season and was presented with the Senator Joseph A. Sullivan Trophy as the USPORTS Men’s Hockey Player of the Year.

Philp played five years in the Western Hockey League for the Kootenay ICE and Red Deer Rebels accumulating 103 goals and 148 assists for 251 points in 264 regular season games and another 16 goals and 25 assists for 41 points in 45 playoff games.
