New faces and new classes at Cranbrook Arts

Christyn Rebmann

Cranbrook Arts is excited and very pleased to introduce our new Executive Director, Christyn Rebmann.

Christyn has a Degree in Fine Arts from Thompson Rivers University. That, and her experience working in the Kamloops Art Gallery will be such valuable experience for Cranbrook Arts Council.

Christyn has been getting to know our artists while working in the shop and soon will work between both 1013 Baker St and 1401 ARTspace.

We also welcome a face already familiar to many of our students. Shyre Cupples-Pinchak will be working part time looking after the shop and the rest of her time will be spent teaching more classes at 1401.

The Square Foot Show will open Saturday November 20 at 6:30 p.m. for a special reception with the artists and members. All are welcome.

Christina Blaskowich will be playing her harp and maybe Barry will accompany her. That will be a surprise. This will be a lovely Christmas opener to the season with all paintings selling for $200. Hope to see everyone there.

Tessa McGregor has gathered the weavers and spinners together for an initial meeting. A Weaver’s Guild is being formed and they will meet on the first Wednesday of every month upstairs in the large mezz. Please come and join them if interested. Email programming@cranbrookarts for more information.

January’s Exhibit in the 1401 Gallery from January 15 to February 19 will be the work of Fernie’s Mike Hepher ‘In this Together.’ If you missed this show in Kimberley, this will be your chance to Mike’s work.

The Funtastic Singers meet every Tuesday afternoon from 1:30 -3 p.m.(ish) in the workshop. This group sings for fun and will be touring various facilities during the Christmas Season. Everyone is welcome.

November 20: John de Jong has a watercolour painting class where attendees will make a beautiful keepsake envelope for gifting or as a keepsake. Beginners are most welcome as well those more experienced. John will make sure you have work to be proud of. He always does.

Yvonne gets into the Ceramics on Sunday November 28. She also brings Christmas goodies to munch on while you paint. You choose your Christmas decoration and then paint it to your taste. Such a fun day.

On December 4, we have a two hour class for children with Tara. She will keep the kids busy creating Christmas baubles so their parents can shop alone for a couple of hours keeping the sparkle in everyone’s Saturday. Don’t forget our shop on Baker St. is packed with local crafts and paintings. Henny Hansen’s beautiful knitting is currently featured.

Sunday December 19 is your opportunity to relax and try your hand a simple macrame plant hanger.  Bring a small pot and by the end of the session you should have another gift for yourself or someone you just couldn’t find the right gift for.

Please go to the cranbrookarts.com webpage to register for any of these events.
