Pink Mitten Campaign re-launched

The Pink Ribbon Mittens that were popular over a decade ago and that raised $1 million for breast cancer causes are available again.

Kootenay Knit & Apparel has partnered with Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) to re-launch The Pink Mitten Campaign to support breast cancer research and support services. Kootenay Knit is donating $2 from each pair of pink mittens sold to CCS, with a minimum contribution of $30,000 in 2024

Pink Ribbon Mittens will be available for distributors, retailers, sponsors and consumers to purchase by pre-ordering. Pre-orders will be accepted until March 25.

Pre-ordered Pink Ribbon Mittens will be delivered between August 15 and September 15. Just in time for October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. A limited quantity of mittens will be available to order Aug 15 until sold out.

Distributors, retailers and sponsors can co-brand pre-ordered Pink Ribbon Mittens with a custom woven label. CCS will review and approve all co-branded requests.

“Funds raised by the Pink Mitten Campaign will provide important support programs and enable us to continue pushing the boundaries of breast cancer treatment, ensuring those facing the disease can live their lives as fully as possible,” said Mona Naghizadeh, Corporate Partnerships at CCS.

It is estimated that one in eight women in Canada will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Over the last five years, CCS has invested over $53 million in breast cancer research across the country. Today, 89% of women and 76% of men with breast cancer survive at least five years past their diagnosis. Notably, since its peak in 1986, the breast cancer death rate has been nearly cut in half.

Kootenay Knit & Apparel, creator of The Pink Mitten Campaign, is a certified Canadian Women-Owned Business, was an official licensee for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games and raised $1M for Canadian Cancer Society since 2010.

“The Kootenay Knit team is thrilled to re-launch The Pink Mitten Campaign and work with CCS. We are passionate about supporting women causes including this campaign and other give-back and community programs,” said owner and President Cathy Rella.
