Public Works road crews ready for wintery weather
As winter weather approaches, City of Cranbrook Public Works crews are ready to act with snow removal equipment on standby.
According to the latest forecast from Environment Canada, we may see snow as early as this week.
Our priority will always be to keep major streets, hospital zones, emergency access routes, roads with steep grades, and transit routes clear.
During heavy or continuous snowfall, we will focus on these routes first, clearing them repeatedly until the storm subsides. Once conditions improve, we will move to secondary routes and beyond.
Snow and ice removal is a community effort, and we need everyone’s help to keep the city moving. Please clear the snow and ice from all sidewalks bordering your property within 24 hours after a snowstorm. During and immediately after a snowstorm, parking off the road wherever possible allows our plows to clear streets much more efficiently.
Keeping street drains clear of snow and ice and ensuring fire hydrants are accessible is also important. Together, we can ensure a safe and accessible winter for all.
Learn about our operations, priority routes and follow our snow clearing activities in real-time with our PlowCranbrook map on our website @ www.cranbrook.ca, and searching ‘Winter Road Maintenance.’
