Repairs continue as upgrades begin at pool

Important repairs to the structural support columns on the pool decks at Western Financial Place, which started last week are moving ahead as planned. The repairs are on schedule and should be completed within the original three-week timeline, ending on November 8.

Additional welding work is required, which will require adjusting the scheduled pool closure slightly.

The pool remains closed to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. daily – Monday to Friday, however the closure is being extended from 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. from Monday, November 4 until Thursday, November 7.

Some scheduled aquafit classes, adult leisure swims, swim lane times, and swim lessons will be affected by the pool closure, and those participants have already been contacted by staff. Late afternoon or evening programs will continue as scheduled while the column repairs are completed.

Staff are also taking advantage of the extended pool closure, by undertaking two other important projects at Western Financial Place.

The new Steam Generator has arrived and is slated for installation this week, updating the Aquatic Centre’s Steam Room. As well, the new handrails will start being installed at Western Financial Place on Tuesday, October 29. The handrails will take a couple of weeks to be fully installed in the arena.

We apologize for any inconvenience these repairs and upgrades may cause to our user groups and patrons.
