Sam Steele Days hitting stride
The City of Cranbrook is filling up as Sam Steele Days 2016 begins to hit full stride.
Several thousand soccer, baseball and bocce players are rolling into town this afternoon, as Sam Steele Society members and community volunteers and businesses get down to the fun business of Sam Steele Days.
Pancake breakfasts, such as the one held at Scotia Bank, Joseph Creek Village and the Cranbrook Public Library (pictured right) Thursday and barbecues, like the one held by East Kootenay Realty this afternoon or at Home Depot/Street Angels, set the tone as some of the bigger weekend events are about to get underway.
The Sweetheart Youth Ambassador Pageant gets underway this evening (June 17) at Key City Theatre at 7:30 p.m.
Saturday is jammed full of events, beginning with the Pride of Cranbrook Pancake Breakfast and the St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino Sam Steele Days Parade, 10:30 a.m. to noon. Please click HERE to see the full schedule of events for the June 16-19 festival.
Pictured: East Kootenay Realty held its annual lunchtime barbecue today, with The Sherriff, Jason Wheeldon, once again busting citizens for failing to wear their Sam Steele buttons. He pounced on e-KNOW publisher Carrie Schafer, who a few seconds earlier gulped, āOh no, our pins are in the other car!ā She did her time behind bars, along with many other generous residents, before being able to step into the barbecue line.
