Speed reduction zone for Shadow Mountain sewer work
A speed reduction zone will be in place later this week on Highway 95A between Parnaby Road and the McPhee Bridge as work continues on the Shadow Mountain Sanitary Sewer Servicing project, with contractors set to move their operations closer to the highway.
Travel speeds will be reduced to 50 km/h for the safety of our contractors working on the project site and the driving public.
As work progresses along the highway, there will be times when the passing lane will be closed temporarily to allow construction workers a safe amount of room to complete their work. Please be aware of this speed reduction and watch for and obey any onsite signage. Remember that speed fines double in construction zones.
The Shadow Mountain Sanitary Sewer Servicing project is moving along steadily under our contractor Copcan Civic LP with just over 1km of pipe already installed.
The project will construct a new sanitary sewer force main and lift stations connecting the Shadow Mountain neighbourhood to the City’s sewage collection system. The connection point is at Mennie Road near Echo Field Road. This project will permanently take the existing onsite sewer holding tank system offline.
This project is funded by a Local Area Service (LAS) process undertaken by the city in the fall of 2022. An LAS is the installation of a utility service such as water, sewer, or road that benefits a particular area of residents. Those specific residents then pay for that service rather than all City of Cranbrook taxpayers paying for the service installation.
