Strongman returns to Sam Steele Days for 14th year
The 2017 Strongman Classic will be held June 17 from 11:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 17th Ave. North. This year’s event features 16 male competitors and eight female competitors—double the amount from last year—from British Columbia and Alberta.
Allison Lockhart, Canada’s strongest woman, will be making a guest appearance.
The event will include a truck pull with two logging trucks, up from last year’s one logging truck. Men will compete to pull both trucks and women will pull one.
The 14th annual Strongman Classic will include the Rockstar girls, who will be handing out and free Rockstar swag and selling SPCA raffle tickets. Raffle ticket prizes include a Samsung curved 49″ UHD Television (provided by Aaron’s) and a golf stay and play package with two rounds of golf for two from Trickle Ridge Lodge and Mountain Spirit Resort. All raffle proceeds will go to the British Columbia SPCA.
Fitness Inc.’s Strongman Classic has been held annually during Sam Steele Days since in 2004. Sponsors include Aaron’s, Trickle Creek Golf Resort, Mountain Spirit Resort and Happy Duck Sprinkler Systems, which have donated raffle prizes for many years. Their support and the support of the community have raised more than $16,000 for the BCSPCA in the last six years.
Strongman Classic was created by Fitness Inc., which is a fitness facility in Cranbrook that strives to provide a clean and well-equipped facility in a comfortable atmosphere, welcoming to people from all walks of life.
