Structure fire at Knight’s Hall early Tuesday morning
King Street closed; detour available
Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services responded to structure fire at the Knight’s Hall in the early hours of Tuesday, December 19.
Upon arrival, fire crews discovered fire showing from the second story of the building, where the fire quickly spread throughout. The buildings condition continues to deteriorate, and defensive firefighting tactics will be used until the fire is out.
At this time there are no injuries to report. At the time of the fire there was no heat or power in the building, due to the significant damage caused by a fire at this location in November of 2022.
Officials are unsure if there were any occupants inside at the time of the fire, and both RCMP and fire department staff will be working together to determine if anyone was inside the building at the time of the fire.
King Street at Slater Road is currently closed to all traffic and is expected to remain closed most of the morning Tuesday. Traffic can detour around the closure by using Leask Avenue West.
