Students raise $260 for Shelter for Ukrainians Society

On Tuesday, April 25, Shelter for Ukrainians Society president Bonnie Spence -Vinge and event coordinator/ liaison Tamara Cartwright Poulits met with Mrs. Kate Ruoss-Humphrey’s Grade 3 class at Gordon Terrace Elementary School to collect a $260 donation for the society.

This grade 3 class took the initiative to help by collecting sunflower seeds, making their own packaging, and selling them to friends and family! We are extremely grateful! You should all be very proud of yourselves!

All donations to the society go towards creating a safe haven for Ukrainian families coming into our area as we work to help them to secure housing, employment, and basic living needs. Donations can be made through the Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies. Interac E-Transfer to [email protected] (In the notes, please include “Ukraine” as well as the donor’s full name and contact information).

For more information on the Shelter for Ukrainian Society or if you would like to volunteer just fill out the on-line volunteer info form and press submit or call Tamara at 250-581-5566.
