Summer Sounds returns July 9 with three acts
The live music of Summer Sounds & Dancing in the Park will erupt from the Rotary Park bandstand beginning Saturday, July 9 in Cranbrook.
This annual program organized and run by the volunteers of the Fisher Peak Performing Artists Society (FPPAS), will showcase three acts at each evening event from 6 to 10 p.m. every Saturday until August 27.
It has become a favourite summer activity since its beginnings almost a decade ago. Local people as well as visitors gather with their families and friends to relax outdoors, listen, and dance to some of the best performers in the Kootenays. You can expect exceptional entertainment from jazz to blues and folk to rock, while slurping on a cold craft beer or cooler available on site from the Fisher Peak Brewing Company.
Youth who are emerging as performing artists in almost any discipline are invited to perform unplugged and off-stage between acts for up to 15 minutes to gain some experience and engage new fans. An honourarium will be provided. Contact [email protected] to arrange involvement.
“The free concerts would not happen without the partnership with the City of Cranbrook and local businesses and organizations, and funding from the Regional District of East Kootenay, through the Columbia Basin Trust Community Initiatives & Affected Areas Program,” acknowledged Steve Knowles, FPPAS President.
For those who have worked up an appetite or just don’t feel like cooking, a few food vendors will be eager to offer their delicious products. Bring your own chairs or blankets. People of all ages are welcome, but they recommend leaving your pets at home.
