Sunrise Rotary awards four scholarships

The Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club has awarded a $1,500.00 scholarship to each of the following recipients: Nathaniel Ralph; Kieran O Grady; Emily Daly; and Robyn Anderson.

Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary scholarships are designated for students who graduated in Cranbrook and are entering third, fourth, or fifth year of undergraduate studies at a recognized post-secondary institution.

The Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Scholarship Committee uses the following criteria to select the successful candidates:  Academic merit; Community service and volunteerism; Rotary Motto and 4 Way Test and how they have been incorporated into the student’s life; and financial need.

Emily Daly

Emily Daly – Ambrose University – Bachelor of Science – fourth year; Educational Goal: Physician

Thank you so much for this award, it will really help me out this year! I am planning to spend this money on rent, books, and hopefully travelling for medical school interviews. This money will really be able to help with these essentials this year. Again, thank you so much for this award, you have no idea how helpful this will be for me this year! Thank you.

Kieran O Grady

Kieran O Grady– College of the Rockies – Bachelor of Nursing – third year;

I am very appreciative of this award that I am receiving from the Sunrise Rotary Club. This scholarship will be used towards my tuition cost for next semester at the University of Victoria. I would like to thank the Sunrise Rotary Club of Cranbrook for this amazing opportunity as it will help me out substantially! Thank you again.

Robyn Anderson

Robyn Anderson – Durham University – BSc. Chemical Engineering (Minor in Environmental Studies) – fourth year. Goal: To work in the field of Physical Geography.

This reception of this scholarship really means a lot to me. As I am studying in the UK, I am subject to international fees, making tuition significantly more expensive than tuition in Canada. The money will go towards my tuition and will allow me to worry a little bit less about the cost! I cannot express how much this means to me, and I will hope to continue to embody the four-way test and the “service above self” motto over here in the UK. Thank you again.

Nathaniel Ralph

Nathaniel Ralph – University of Lethbridge – Percussion Performance major/Education B.Mus/B.Ed -third year; Goal – Music Teacher.

I thank you immensely for the opportunity to receive this scholarship; this fifteen hundred dollars will be going towards some of my performance gear needed for the fall and spring semester, as well as it will go towards the Alberta institution seven per cent tuition increase this year. Thank you so very much
