Third Cranbrook Thrives Luncheon Nov. 25

The Cranbrook Social Planning Society will host its third of four Cranbrook Thrives Luncheons this month, thanks to a grant received earlier this year from the United Way East Kootenay.

Focused on the needs of not-for-profit organizations in the East Kootenay, each luncheon in the series features different keynote speakers and provides attendees the opportunity to network with other not-for-profit organizations.

According to Rita Romeo, chair of the Cranbrook Social Planning Society, partnering with similar not-for-profit organizations helps to ensure there isn’t a duplication of services, reduces service gaps and helps to identify possible shared service areas.

“While networking can achieve these objectives, many not-for-profit employees don’t have a lot of opportunities for networking. Not-for-profits are usually minimally staffed so there’s not a lot of flexibility in their schedules to get together and share information, but most people are able to fit in a lunch break.”

And, while the focus of the Cranbrook Thrives Luncheon series is not-for-profit organizations Romeo adds, “Anyone is welcome to attend.”

The first luncheon was held in May and focused on the use of digital strategies to help not-for-profits connect with clients and donors. September’s luncheon featured keynote speaker Ingrid Liepa, a process artist, knowledge translator and community builder.

This month’s luncheon focuses on programs in the East Kootenay designed to support not-for-profit organizations and features four keynote speakers: Greg McCallum, Business Program Coordinator, COTR Programs; Jennifer Krotz, Manager, Community Relationships East, Columbia Basin Trust; Sean Campbell, General Manager, and Bob Bougie, Advisor, Cranbrook and area for Community Futures East Kootenay. For more information on the presenters visit HERE.

The luncheon will be held at the Heritage Inn on Wednesday, November 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and include a soup and salad lunch. To register visit HERE.
