Turkey Drive raises nearly $73k for Food Bank and Salvation Army

The generosity expressed by Cranbrook and area citizens never ceases to amaze though sometimes it still leaves one uttering “wow.”

Cranbrook Chamber of Commerce members gathered today for the Spirit of Giving luncheon at the Cranbrook Golf Club, where the result of the annual Turkey Drive was announced by (Head Plucker) Steve Zsillei.

With a goal of $60,000, a host of ‘Lil Pluckers’ (volunteers) set out to sell turkeys and vend they did. A late surge pushed this year’s total to $72,745, which was presented to Julie Rose and Katie Orr with the Cranbrook Food Bank and Jared Potter with the Salvation Army, for their organizations to help brighten Christmas for many city and area families and individuals.

Zsillei noted the Turkey Drive has raised more than $500,000 over the years.
