Letter to the Editor

Mr. Tom Shypitka’s decision to run as an independent has removed a big dilemma for me.  Here’s why: Earlier this year I asked him to get into a government decision that really upset me, and probably a lot of older, native, Kootenay residents.

He not only wouldn’t get into this for me, but he didn’t even have the courtesy of responding to me, even after three attempts to get him to reply.  Now, I understand that he and his party may not have agreed that this was something they wanted to get into, but to not respond to me is a terrible way of treating a constituent.

His party would normally be the one I would vote for, but sure won’t be this time, so it is a relief to me that I have the Conservative option.

I can’t tell you how to vote, but I can tell you who I’m not voting for.  We deserve a MLA who has better respect for his constituents.
