Youth Ambassador Program gears up for 2025

The Cranbrook Youth Ambassador Program is gearing up for its 60th year and is now accepting applications for the 2025 program.

“Applications for the 2025 Program are currently being accepted and our 2024 Ambassadors along with a number of alumni have been busy hosting information meetings in their schools and talking to potential candidates,” said Loree Duczek, Program Co-Coordinator.

“We have two evening information meetings planned for the coming weeks to help not only share information on what we have planned for 2025, but answer questions that potential candidates or their families might have.”

An information meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5 at the RDEK Office in Cranbrook (19 24 Avenue S) and via Zoom at 7 p.m. on November 13.

There is also another in-school meeting planned for November 19 at Mount Baker at 11:40 a.m. in Room 121.

“It surprises me every year when people say “I had no idea what this program was all about,” said Duczek. “It is a six-month program focused on helping youth develop self-confidence while providing training in everything from public speaking and resume writing to financial management, basic car care, self defence, professionalism and budgeting.”

There is also a focus on community involvement and volunteering and the potential to earn scholarships.

“It’s six months that can change your life. It certainly changed mine,” added Duczek.

Application forms are available online at www.cranbrookyouthambassadors.com, from any of the 2024 youth ambassador candidates or by contacting Karin Penner at 250-426-2957. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. Monday, November 25.

The program will begin on December 8 and regular meetings are held weekly on Sundays from January through the middle of June.

It is open to girls in Grades 10 and 11 residing in Cranbrook.
