The East Kootenay will continue to have representation at the provincial level after Regional District of East Kootenay Electoral Area F Director Wendy Booth was recently acclaimed as the First Vice President of the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) Executive.

Fellow RDEK directors saidĀ theĀ acclimation is good for the region.

ā€œOn behalf of the RDEK, I want to congratulate Electoral Area F Director Wendy Booth,ā€ said RDEK Board Chair and Electoral Area C Director Rob Gay. ā€œIt is exciting to have her representing us at the UBCM level and know she will continue to be a strong advocate for policies and programming that will benefit all British Columbians.ā€

ā€œWeā€™re so proud of that,ā€ said City of Fernie Mayor and board member Mary Giuliano.

This will be Boothā€™s fourth year on the UBCM executive. She was previously the Second Vice President and spent two years as a Director-at-Large.

ā€œIt is an honour to be acclaimed by my peers,ā€ said Booth. ā€œI have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the UBCM Executive and am eager to continue to learn and grow within my new role. Iā€™m looking forward to the ride.ā€

The elections took place at the annual UBCM Convention in Victoria at the end of September.
