BC Green Party announces candidate for Kootenay-Rockies

The BC Green Party August 3 introduced Kerri Wall as its candidate for Kootenay-Rockies in this fall’s provincial election.

Kerri Wall has been a dedicated resident of Fernie, on unceded Ktunaxa territory, since 2008. With over 25 years of experience in public health and community service, Kerri has been instrumental in integrating health considerations into local government planning and policies across the Kootenays, a Green Party media release noted.

Kerri’s extensive experience in housing and poverty reduction, along with her work in anti-racism initiatives, makes her an ideal candidate to represent Kootenay-Rockies.

With over 25 years of experience in public health and community service, she has worked with Interior Health (IH) since 2010, helping municipalities across the Kootenays incorporate health into local planning and policies. Kerri holds a Master of Arts in Leadership and Training and has certifications in Negotiation, Mediation, and Public Participation.

Driven by a deep commitment to improving the quality of life for future generations, Kerri’s career has focused on enhancing mental health, family well-being, and shared prosperity. She is a founding member of Interior Health’s first anti-racism community of practice and is deeply involved in projects related to housing and poverty reduction.

Kerri also serves on Community Social Planning Society of Cranbrook and Area and also sits on Elk Valley Resources’s (formerly Teck) Communities of Interest Advisory Committee.

“Kerri is dedicated to ensuring future generations can enjoy the natural beauty and quality of life in the Kootenays. She is ready to bring her extensive experience and passion for health, community, and the environment to the provincial legislature as a BC Green MLA,” the party media release said.

“Our communities deserve leaders who prioritize health, equity, and environmental stewardship. I am ready to bring these values to the provincial legislature and ensure that Kootenay-Rockies remains a place where health, equity, and environmental sustainability are prioritized,” Wall said.

“As we face the challenges of today and look toward a sustainable future, it’s community leaders like Kerri who will help us chart a new course for British Columbia,” said Sonia Furstenau, Leader of the BC Green Party.
