Bienvenue to 60 firefighters from Québec

The South Rockies Complex in the Southeast Fire Centre is saying Bienvenue to 60 Type 1 firefighters and one agency representative from Québec.

Arriving at fire camp August 14, the Québec crews are increasing ground crew capacity, working on all three fires in the complex: Dogtooth FSR, Ravenshead and Mount Morro.

The incident management team (IMT) and camp staff have been busy welcoming the Québec crews with bilingual camp signage, translation of critical documents, French-language briefings and danger tree assessment awareness training and more.

Québec crews range from veterans with several B.C. deployments under their belts, to firefighters experiencing their first out-of-province deployments.

The complex has previously welcomed crews from Ontario and has an Ontario incident management team incoming, taking over from the Australia and New Zealand IMT currently managing the complex.

With Australians, New Zealanders and Canadians living, working and camping together, interagency teamwork is alive and well in the South Rockies.

Many nations make for good work.
