Celtara playing Cranbrook and Windermere
Edmonton-based Canadiana Celtic band Celtara (pronounced Kell TAH’ ra) are touring in Southern Alberta and B.C. in support of their newly released third album, Seven Long Years.
Their tour will bring them to two stages in the East Kootenay – Cranbrook’s Stage Door and the Windermere Community Hall August 24 and 25.
Known as a driving force on the prairie Celtic scene, Celtara draws influences from the far reaches of Ireland, Norway, Brittany, Scotland, Sweden and beyond into their uniquely identifiable Canadiana Celtic sound.
Rich arrangements, full-bodied vocals and dazzling fiddle, guitar, flute, accordion, percussion and piano, have fused into spirited performances for more than 14 years. Bonnie Gregory, Andreas Illig, Tami Cooper, Steven Bell and Mark Arnison are pleased to share their newly released third recording, Seven Long Years.
Celtara is Cranbrook on Friday August 24 at The Stage Door. Advance tickets $20 at Lotus Books or at the door.
And on Saturday August 25 they are at the Windermere Community Hall, 4726 North Street, Windermere. Advance tickets $20 at Treasures in the Wind Antiques, 4730 Government Street, Windermere, 778-526-5117, or at the door.
