CMHA Kootenays partners with Purcell Golf Course

Submitted by CMHA Kootenays

The CMHA Kootenays Branch is partnering with Purcell Golf Course in Kimberley on Monday, August 19, to offer guests a round of golf for $30 per person as part of Purcell’s initiative to support local non-profits in fundraising.

Going into its third year as a participant, local CMHA organizer and Director of Public Education and Crisis Services Natalie Hake is adamant about raising awareness for mental health and increasing funding to enhance and enrich their existing programs.

“It’s nice to see people get out there and promote and support crisis services. Every dollar we receive goes into programming and back into the community,” said Hake.

Over $4,000 raised from the event in the past two years has helped supplement crisis services, remove the stigma barrier, and promote conversation around mental health, increasing the likelihood that people will access support or become more aware of options available to seek help.

A table with CMHA staff will be at the event to field questions from guests or to chat.

“It’s about giving back and people helping people – when someone comes to the event and says thank you for helping me through crisis line, that’s an incredible moment,” said Hake.

Public and corporate support has been present throughout CMHA’s partnership with Purcell. Fundraising is essential to non-profits like CMHA Kootenays and instrumental in building and strengthening their mission to help people.

“It’s nice to see the community step up, support different programs, and promote connection.”
