EKFH seeking board members
East Kootenay Foundation for Health (EKFH) has done remarkable work over the past few decades but more is needed and new volunteers are required to help achieve that work.
The East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) and the other health care facilities, as well as residents in the region have reaped the benefits from the work of the EKFH and its volunteer board of directors, as well as from health care auxiliaries.
Most recently EKFH celebrated a smashing success in its campaign to raise funds for a $2.8 million SPECT CT camera.
The volunteer organization allotted two years to raise $1 million for the vital equipment but achieved its goal in one year, with more than 800 donors coming aboard.
I think that was the largest fundraising that we have ever done at that time. So, despite all the uncertainties around COVID and everything that was going on, the community stepped up and we were able to get this done,” said EKFH Vice Chair Wes Rogers Jan. 17 during a celebration of the opening of the SPECT-CT.
Rogers concluded his address to dignitaries and hospital staff in the MRI waiting room of EKRH by inviting people to join the EKFH board, or tell someone they know who might be interested, so good work such as what was being celebrated can continue on.
“Contact Brenna (Baker; EKFH executive director) because we can use you. It’s a great organization to be a part of and we get to do some awesome things like the CT, the MRI and currently wrapping up, The (East Kootenay) Foundry.”
