Fatality crash on Highway 1 being investigated
On August 5, Ā at approximately 1 p.m., Revelstoke RCMP andĀ BC Highway PatrolĀ attended a report of a collision involving a Kia Rio and Ford Fusion on Trans-Canada Highway 1 near the Loop Brook Campground, just west of Rogerās Pass in Glacier National Park.
Personnel from BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS), BC Coronerās Service, Fire Rescue, and Ministry of Transportation were also in attendance.
Initial investigation has determined that the west bound Kia Rio crossed the centre line into the east bound lane, colliding with the Ford Fusion.
A passenger in the Kia Rio was pronounced deceased at the scene while two occupants of the Ford Fusion sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Trans Canada Highway 1 was closed in both directions for investigation but has since re-opened.
BC Highway Patrol ā Golden has conduct of the investigation which is still in the early stages. All avenues of investigation are being considered and no further details are available at this time.
