First snow dump of season to continue to Friday
Snowfall has impacted the entire East Kootenay with some areas receiving up to 25cms over the past 24 plus hours.
Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting crews are currently out plowing and applying winter abrasive where needed.
It is currently lightly snowing in the Cranbrook area. Crews are currently out plowing and sanding, Mainroad reported this morning (Nov. 21).
The Cranbrook and Kimberley areas received up to 15 cms of snowfall last night. Snow is forecasted to taper off late this morning but will begin again this afternoon. Friday’s expected snowfall accumulations is up to five cm.
It is currently lightly snowing in the Elk Valley. Crews are out plowing and sanding. Elk Valley received approximately 20 cms of snowfall last night. Snowfall is forecasted to continue into the weekend. Snowfall for Friday is expected to be up to 10 cm.
Plowing and sanding is in progress in the Columbia Valley, with light snow currently falling. Snow is forecasted to taper off this afternoon but begin again later this evening. Friday snowfall is forecasted to be up to four cms and continue into the weekend.
It is currently snowing lightly in the Yahk area. Snowfall accumulations from last night are up to 12 cms. Crews are our plowing and sanding. Snow/rain mix is forecasted to begin this afternoon and continue into Saturday, Mainroad stated.
