Foundation helps 19 Kootenay organizations
The Kootenay Savings Community Foundation is helping Christmas come a little early this year for 19 different Kootenay-area non-profit organizations and service clubs, including three in the East Kootenay.
“Twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall, our Community Foundation reviews and evaluates many inspiring grant applications for projects, programs and initiatives that will benefit current and future generations for years to come,” shared Aron Burke, Community Liaison for Kootenay Savings. “At a time when many community programs and services are facing cutbacks in funding, it’s important for us as a local credit union to show the deep commitment we have to our communities. That’s why it’s so exciting to be able to announce this latest distribution of grants and donations, totalling over $89,000!”
The three East Kootenay organizations receiving funds are: Columbia Valley Community Foundation – $6,310; Groundswell Network Society in Invermere – $3,000; and Kimberley & District Community Foundation – $5,882. Benefitting the entire Kootenays, Columbia Basin Environmental Education Network is getting $2,500.
The Kootenay Savings Community Foundation was established in 2000 to support non-profit cultural, economic, educational, environmental, health and social projects, delivering almost $4.6 million in grants, endowments and bursaries distributed since inception.
Application form and more details available at kscu.com/Community. There are two application deadlines each year – March 31 and September 30.
