Free Wi-Fi at commercial vehicle inspection stations
Free Wi-Fi has been installed at all commercial vehicle inspection stations throughout the province, improving safety and efficiency on B.C.’s roads by making it easier for commercial drivers to access the online services they need.
The Wi-Fi-enabled inspection stations will allow commercial drivers to check DriveBC for highway delays or closures affecting their route, obtain transport permits for future trips, and stay connected to friends, family and colleagues back home.
The following East Kootenay and nearby inspection stations now have free Wi-Fi:
* Sparwood – 17 km east of Sparwood on Highway 3.
* Yahk – Junction of Highway 3 and Highway 95.
* Golden – 2570 N. Trans-Canada Highway.
* Castlegar – 310 Highway 3.
The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement (CVSE) branch promotes compliance of safety regulations within the commercial transport sector, with the goal of increasing road safety and protecting public health, the environment and transportation infrastructure.
On average, CVSE officers conduct more than 25,000 vehicle inspections each year, issuing violation tickets and removing unsafe vehicles from provincial roadways on a daily basis.
