Impaired driver arrested after multiple complaints
On March 30, at 7:35 p.m., Cranbrook RCMP received the first of three driving complaints regarding an older model pickup travelling west bound on Highway 3 near Wardner. At 8:05 p.m. a member of BC Highway Patrol located the vehicle and attempted to pull it over but, the vehicle fled.
Acting on an update from another concerned citizen, Cranbrook RCMP members were able to block both sides of Eager Hill – Fort Steele Road and arrested the individual without incident.
The driver, a 37-year-old Kimberley resident, was later released from custody with a court appearance for August.
Cranbrook RCMP will be proposing Charges of Impaired Driving, Breach of Probation and Flight from police.
Cranbrook RCMP would like to express appreciation to the three individuals who reported the concerning driving behaviour and took additional steps to help police locate the vehicle, said S/Sgt. Barry Graham, Detachment commander.
