Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo nears sell out

The fifth annual Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo (KRGF), with a 500-rider limit, is nearly sold out with only 35 spots left available.

The event is set for Saturday, September 8, at the beautiful St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino. Over the past five years the Gran Fondo, organized by the Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club, has developed into a major seasonal attraction for the area and has played a role in attracting more tourists and business to the region.

Funds raised from the popular non -profit event have contributed to the North Star Rails-to-Trails Society, the restoration of the CPR Train on Highway 3, the Cranbrook Downtown Bike Rack Project and the introduction of the elementary schools We Bike Program.

KRGF has earned significant recognition for the quality of the event.

John Woodsen, acclaimed North American Bucket List Rider wrote, “The Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo is a crown jewel on the Canadian Gran Fondo circuit. Without a doubt, it is bucket list worthy. The Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club with all the partner organizations and volunteers knocked it out of the park – a Gran Slam.”

The Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club commends the widespread support of the local business community in both Cranbrook and Kimberley. Without this support we would not have been able to develop such a quality event.

Taylor Adams Chartered Accountants is the Title Sponsor sponsor of the KRGF and the money raised each year goes to a wide variety of local service projects, service clubs and organizations including the three Rotary Clubs in Cranbrook and Kimberley, The Mark Creek & Wasa Lions Club, the Kimberley Volunteer Ski Patrol, CDART and the North Star Rails to Trails Society.
