Local courses earn regional 2019 PGA of BC Awards
The PGA of British Columbia has announced the regional recipients in 11 categories of the 2019 PGA of BC Awards and three East Kootenay golf courses are among those honoured.
Bootleg Gap Golf Course, St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino and Copper Point Golf Club (with three awards) have all captured regional 2019 honours.
The regional award recipients were selected following an open nomination period and extensive deliberations by regional nomination committees. Each of the award recipients are now provincial finalists for this year’s PGA of BC Awards, with the honourees to be announced next month.
Eligible provincial award recipients will also be put forward as the PGA of BC’s nominee for corresponding PGA of Canada national awards where applicable.
Local professionals/courses honoured:
Trevor Simkins – Head Professional at Bootleg Gap Golf Course for Dick Munn Golf Professional of the Year.
Brian Schaal – Executive Professional, Copper Point Golf Club for Executive Professional of the Year;
Chris Medford – Class “A” Professional, St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino for Fred Wood Class “A” Professional of the Year;
Dennis Bradley – Teaching Professional, Copper Point Golf Club for Alvie Thompson Teacher of the Year;
Copper Point Golf Club (pictured above) for Golf Facility of the Year.
This year’s regional award recipients will be honoured at the 2019 PGA of BC Awards Celebration on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, where the provincial award winners will be named.
