Local embarking on Ski Challenge to support KCA
In a remarkable fusion of personal milestone and community spirit, local resident and Kootenay Christian Academy (KCA) building parent, Michael Meinig is set to undertake the ‘24 Hours of Hope’ challenge, aiming to raise $10,000 for KCA’s upcoming building expansion.
To commemorate his 60th birthday, Meinig plans to cross-country ski 200 kilometres within a 24-hour period at the Kimberley Nordic Club’s trails. The event is scheduled for late February, with the exact date contingent on weather conditions.
The funds raised through this challenge will contribute to the school’s building expansion, facilitating increased enrollment, and support various programs, including mission trips, community playground development, and assistance for families in need.
Michael’s initiative not only seeks financial support but also encourages community members to pursue their own active lifestyle goals. He suggests families and individuals use this opportunity to engage in activities such as skiing or hiking, promoting health and well-being.
Event Details:
- Challenge: 24-hour cross-country skiing marathon;
- Goal: Ski over 200 kilometres;
- Beneficiary: Kootenay Christian Academy’s building expansion fund;
- Location: Kimberley Nordic Club, 840 N Star Drive, Kimberley.
