East Kootenay riders put in a strong performance over the weekend at the 2019 Nautique Canadian Wakesurf National Championships.

In the Junior Division, Cranbrook’s Dagen Duczek turned in two strong rides on his way to the gold medal. Dagen’s older brother Ryder took Silver in Youth Boys, while Cranbrook’s Montanna Rouselle took bronze and Jaffray’s Cassidy Boehm took Silver in Youth Girls.

In Men’s 30-39, Cranbrook rider Isaac Hockley took Gold.

In his first competitive event, Matt Boehm of Jaffray took bronze in Master Men’s.

Cranbrook’s Mike Rouselle took bronze in the Adaptive Division, which was introduced as an official competitive division for the first time at these National Championships.

In the Pro Women’s Skim Division, Caroline Villeneuve of the H20 School on Lake Koocanusa finished fourth, while Cranbrook’s Gabrielle Hockley finished fifth in the Pro Women’s Surf Division.

Presented by Wizard Lake Marine, the 2019 Nautique Canadian Wakesurf National Championship was a qualifier for Canada’s National Wakesurf Development Team and National Wakesurf Senior Teams. The event featured riders from Canada, the United States and Japan and was held at Lake Chestermere near Calgary.
