MLA Shypitka elected BC United Caucus Chair
BC United has announced changes to the Official Opposition shadow portfolios and caucus roles, effective immediately, with Kootenay East MLA Tom Shypitka being elected Caucus Chair.
Along with being elected Caucus Chair, Shypitka remains Shadow Minister for Mines & Low Carbon Innovation.
BC United Leader Kevin Falcon congratulated the members on their new roles, stating, “I am confident that these changes will enhance our ability to represent and advocate for the people of British Columbia while holding Premier David Eby and the NDP government accountable for their actions and decisions. Each member brings a wealth of experience and dedication to their new portfolios, and I look forward to seeing their contributions in these critical areas.”
Other changes include:
Mike Bernier has been appointed as Shadow Minister for Water, Land and Resource Stewardship, in addition to his role as Shadow Minister for Forests.
Shirley Bond has been appointed as Shadow Minister for Mental Health, Addiction & Recovery, in addition to her roles as Shadow Minister for Health, Seniors Services, and Long Term Care.
Dan Davies has been appointed as Shadow Minister for Education, in addition to his roles as Shadow Minister for Rural and Social Development, and Poverty Reduction.
Coralee Oakes has been appointed as Shadow Minister for Emergency Management & Climate Readiness, in addition to her role as Shadow Minister for Post Secondary Education.
