MP unhappy with inmates getting vaccines before vulnerable
A national news report outlining how hundreds of federal inmates will receive COVID-19 vaccines this week has prompted a rebuke from Kootenay-Columbia MP Rob Morrison.
Along with sharing a CTV news item titled ‘Federal inmates set to receive COVID-19 vaccines starting Friday,’ Morrison stated on Facebook: “Not one criminal should be vaccinated ahead of any vulnerable Canadian or front-line health worker. The Prime Minister needs to do the right thing and ensure that vulnerable seniors, front-line medical staff, and other essential workers are first in line for the vaccine.”
His remark reflected Conservative Party of Canada leader Erin O’Toole’s Jan. 5 tweet: “Not one criminal should be vaccinated ahead of any vulnerable Canadian or front line health worker.”
